Special Services & Local Improvements

Update on Special Service 2021-01 for the collection of waste and recycling.

Notice has been received by the Municipality that the Municipal Board has reviewed and approved by-law 2021-01 being a Special Service for Solid Waste and Recycling Collection in the urban communities of Plumas, Langruth and Gladstone. Council gave 2nd and 3rd reading to the by-law at their Regular meeting on April 21st. Bins have been ordered and further information will be provided on the Municipal Website or by contacting the office. A welcome package will be included with each bin when they are delivered. Currently the wait time for the bins from the manufacturer is longer than usual due to COVID-19. We anticipate the program will begin sometime in the summer months,  more information will be provided when confirmed with the service provider. Residents will see the addition of the special service levy on their 2021 tax statement.

Council reviewed the feedback received at the Public hearing and adjusted the per parcel rate for 2021 to be $166.00 per residential dwelling unit with a 3% annual increase thereafter. A copy of the Garbage and Recycling Collection Regulations by-law 2021-03 is available below or in the documents section --> by-laws --> 2021-03 garbage and recycling collection regulations by-law.
